The Redlands Tea Party Patriots are citizens joined together with a concern that the country is being taken in the wrong direction. We understand that the United States is a republic and that We the People choose representatives to govern us and this land. It is therefore our responsibility to become educated about and engaged in the political process. We are the silent majority no more.
The Redlands Tea Party Patriots is a local chapter of the national organization Tea Party Patriots who encompass 160 groups here in California and over 2000 nationwide. We are a nonpartisan grassroots group united in our mission. The mission of the Redlands Tea Party Patriots is consistent with that of the national group to attract, educate, organize and mobilize our fellow citizens to secure public policy consistent with our three core values of Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and Free Markets.
On April 15, 2009 (link to image page) we converged at the corner of Orange and Redlands Blvd in downtown Redlands. With flags flying and signs waving we united to make our voice heard. Although many in the (lame-stream) media would make light of the Tea Party movement the numbers and strength continue to mount. On April 15, 2010 (link to image page) we again joined together on that corner and with a voice of over 600 patriots again shared our views with those in power.

Spending Revolt National Bus TourBe a part of the STOP!The Bus Tour STOP in Mentone 8/5 and the Administration Spending STOP in Washington 11/2.The United States is in the midst of a massive spending crisis. According to Spending Revolt, in the first 500 days of the current Administration, our national debt increased $2.2 trillion. We are adding a whopping $4.4 billion per day. And the federal government continues to spend at a rate of $112,000 per SECOND! This rate of spending is irresponsible and unsustainable. It limits our economic growth and our ability to create new jobs. If we allow our elected officials to continue their spend first, pay later habits, we will face higher taxes, a higher cost of living, and a stagnant economy. And our children may never know the American dream. President Reagan recognized that real and sustainable change must originate with American citizens. He harnessed the voices of individuals to transform government policy. We welcome the Spending Revolt National Bus Tour to our general meeting on Thursday, August 5 - bus arrives at 6:30. We’ll be encouraging people to sign their bus trailer (as well as the actual petition) before the meeting. They’ll also speak for a few minutes near the start of the meeting before heading off to Palm Springs and then on to Phoenix, AZ. They will be traveling the country up through the election. Families across the country have been forced to make tough economic decisions. It is time our elected officials did the same. The Bus Tour is traveling the country calling attention to the problem of this outrageous federal spending. This report, “Big Money Talks” examines California’s Top 15 spending special interest groups over the last 10 years. Their combined expenditures totaled more than $1 Billion. Of the (15) fifteen identified groups, (6) six are corporations, (3) three are Indian tribes, (2) two are public employee labor unions and (4) four are business associations.

The City Council wants to raise the Redlands sales tax by half a percent. That means when you buy something in Redlands it will be 9.5% sales tax (most of San Bernardino County is 9%) The City Council knows it would be political suicide to vote in a tax increase so instead they’re spending $70,000 to pay a consultant to sell the idea to the tax payers and $66,500 to get the tax increase measure onto the ballot. That is just another example of poor money management and poor leadership skills. Also sounds a little like President Obama trying to sell Obamacare. If something is a good idea, you don’t need to sell it to the people. If you are trying to sell it, you’re spinning information to create a favorable view. (Beer isn’t good for you nor does it improve your looks, but if you watch a beer commercial you’d think you would be the most popular person on the planet if you just drank their beer.) Maybe the government thinks we’re stupid or that we’re just not paying attention.
Prove them wrong! The city council meeting Tuesday, July 20, will be held at 7pm. Plan to attend and remind the city council that they need to learn to live within their budget – just like you and your family do every day. Tell them to stop spending!
